Dundlod
Dundlod Heritage Hotels
One of the principal feudal
principalities of Shekhawati, the havelis of this charming, small town are beautifully painted, and some of them are over two hundred years old. These include the Goenka Haveli that is well known for the exquisite quality of its frescos.
Dera Dundlod Qila: Just the bar here is worth a visit, with saddles as bar stools, polo sticks and trophies strewn around, and a selection of photographs related to this king of games. The fort was built by Kesari Singh in 1750, and its impressive gateway leads to a Diwan Khana where the Mughal architecture has French (Louis XIV) furniture. Family memorabilia is also on display, and terraces have a view over the township. There are 25 rooms, a dining hall, and of course, the bar.
Dundlod Castle: Another part of the impressive fort built by Kesari Singh, and with more of its original charac,ter intact, the castle has 24 rooms furnished in period style, each with a balcony, and laid around courtyards. There is also a well stocked library on the premises, as well as a restaurant.
