Bhagwan Mahavir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary

Location of Bhagwan Mahavir National : Located along the Panaji~Belgaum Highway on the border between the states of Goa and Karnataka. The park is easily accessible from Dabolim airport at Panaji, 80km (50 miles) away.

Climate of Bhagwan Mahavir National : The cimate is moderate all year round (summer maximum 32OC, or 90OF; winter minimum 15OC, or 59OF).

When to go Bhagwan Mahavir National : The best birdwatching season is winter, between December and February, when migratory birds nest in the park. It is also the mating season of Indian Bison. Wildlife viewing is at its best in summer (March to May) when the animals are drawn to the few remaining waterholes.

Getting to Bhagwan Mahavir National : The east-west NH4A passes through Molem, where the park is located. Nearest significant town is Ponda, a major road intersection, 30km (19 miles) away. Regular buses from Panaji and Pond a; jeeps can also be hired here.

Facilities at Bhagwan Mahavir National : Rest house and tourist cottages available within the park. There are canteen facilities.
