sea level and is about 12km (7 miles) south of the Bhutan border. Sanctuary
in the terai region of West Bengal, popularly known as daaar ('gateway').
Nearest airport is at Bagdogra (160km; 100 miles); Madarihat (1 km; .5
mile) is nearest railhead.
Climate of Jaldapara National Park : The sanctuary enjoys a subtropical climate. During winter (November to February), the mercury dips to 5°C (41°F) while the hot and humid summer heat (lasting from April to June) soars to 38°C (100°F). The rainy season spans July to September; during the southwest monsoon, the wettest months are July and August.
When to go (Jaldapara National Park) : Jaldapara is best visited between November and March.
Getting to Jaldapara National Park : Madarihat is the gateway to Jaldapara. One can hire a car from Siliguri to drive to the sanctuary. Tourists taking a bus from Siliguri need to disembark at Madarihat.
